The Social Studies Department concerns itself with the development of the whole person through his or her intellectual, moral, social, and academic growth. The student will learn to understand the world’s differing societies, governments, institutions and cultures and the problems caused by this diversity. Through knowledge the student receives, he/she will develop an understanding of and an appreciation of his/her own unique culture and be able to be sensitive to the other cultures of the world. Having established a sense of being an American citizen, the student can relate to also being a citizen of the world and be prepared to question, to challenge, and to analyze the issues of a modern and complex world in relationship to his Catholic beliefs.
